Magical guided Walks in Monte, Madeira

The historic Quinta do Monte is one of four former manor houses of Charming Hotels Madeira, all in and around the capital. Beautifully situated in the hills above Funchal, this 17th century Quinta boasts panoramic tropical gardens with centuries-old trees and plants. Guests here immediately notice the fresh, pure climate of the hills here and its obvious health benefits.

Visitors can now explore these hidden gardens with an English-speaking guide who will explain the fascinating history of the manor house and its gardens, as well as its famous inhabitants and guests, such as the exiled Emperor of Austria. Guests will learn the origin of the plants and their use in gastronomy, beauty treatments and even as agricultural tools. To round off the tour, participants will sample some fine Madeiran wine and receive a personalised souvenir certificate.

Guided walks take place at 10 am every Friday and cost €6 per person bookable at the hotel. Comfortable shoes are recommended. Quinta do Monte is easily accessible by cable car from Funchal.
